Our Process
Our design process from the first call to the start of construction.
Feasibility meeting -
We will arrange a complimentary meeting to discuss your remodeling needs and desires. We will give you a budget range for the project based on historical data and research any zoning issues that might affect your project.
- Design meeting - Once you have decided to work with Commonwealth we will arrange for a meeting with our Architect and Office Project Manager to interview you with the goal of designing a space that works for you and the way you live your life. We pride ourselves in designing projects that meet the customer's specific needs and not just the current trends. If a kitchen and bath is included in the project our Kitchen and Bath Designer will also attend this meeting. There is a non-refundable deposit credited towards the cost of construction of 3% of the budget amount or $3000 whichever is more to start this process.
- House measure - We will need to have access to the house to measure existing room sizes and take pictures of existing conditions.
- Design and ballpark meetings - Depending on the size of the project we may have several meetings to go over different designs we have developed to meet your remodeling needs. We will be working with you to help you select products and materials that will be used in the project. As the project details are worked out our goal is to have a design that works for you within the budget that was set. We guarantee our final ballpark estimate will be within 10% of our contract price.
- Subcontractor meeting - This meeting is scheduled with all the trade contractors who will be working on the project. A careful inspection of the existing conditions is conducted so a construction process and schedule can be developed. We will also get multiple bids for extensive work done by a single trade. There is a non-refundable deposit credited towards the cost of construction of 5% of the budget amount to arrange this meeting.
- Contract signing meeting - Once all the bid are in from the trade contractors we will determine the final cost, a contract for construction is signed and a deposit of 7% is required at this time.
- Construction documents are prepared , engineering is reviewed and permits are submitted to the county.
- Preconstruction meeting - This is a meeting with the project manager assigned to your project normally a week before construction begins. The construction process, dumpster location and construction material storage are a few of the topic discussed at this meeting.
- Construction begins.
